The Northeast Generals are proud to announce the tendering of 2008-born forward Denis Portnoy for the 2026-27 season.
Portnoy, from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is currently competing through his rookie season of junior hockey playing for the Bayou State Rougarou in the NA3HL, where he has accumulated 34 points (17g-17a) in just 10 games this season.
“We are thrilled to welcome Denis to the Northeast Generals organization for next season. He has produced at an impressive rate for Bayou State since joining them. He works hard in all three zones and is a dynamic player in the offensive zone. He had a very impressive showing at the NA3HL Showcase in December, and we believed he would be a strong fit here in Canton,” said Director of Scouting, Eric Welles.
Portnoy’s 34 points and 17 goals are currently both second on the team, despite only playing in 10 games, 21 games fewer than their leading scorer. The 5’10 forward with both Canadian and Russian nationality started his season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League with the Markham Royals before heading to Louisiana and joining the Rougarou.
The Northeast Generals and the Town of Canton would like to welcome Denis and his family to the organization and community.
