Following an 8-3-2-0 start to the season, backed by a nine-game point streak, the Northeast Generals are bolstering their offense with another proven veteran and NCAA DIV I commit.
The East Division’s second-place Generals have signed 2005-born forward Andrew (Drew) Gibbons for the 2025-26 Season. Gibbons’ rights were acquired in an offseason trade, and after starting the year in the BCHL, he’s heading to Canton to finish the final year of his junior hockey career.
“Drew is a big addition for us. He is a player who brings grit, a high hockey IQ, and he’s a proven goal scorer with 16 goals as a rookie last year. Our team is playing some really good hockey, and we don’t want to disrupt the chemistry that we’ve built, but we know that Drew is going to fit in and enhance our team both on and off the ice,” said Head Coach and GM, Bryan Erikson.
Gibbons’ NAHL debut season was split between the Rochester Jr. Americans and the Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks last season. As a rookie, the Wakefield, RI product compiled an even 16 goals and 16 assists to go along with 41 PIMS through 51 games.
He started this season in the BCHL with the Powell River Kings before making the shift to the Generals.
“We’ve been big fans of Drews for a long time. He’s a local kid with proven talent in our league, committed to a service academy. When you can add that to your roster at any point of the year, you must do it. The expectation is that he plays smart and simple hockey and continues to build from there. We just need him to believe in himself, nothing more. We’re excited to welcome Drew to our team and to see him play against New Hampshire this weekend,” Erikson added.
Gibbons is committed to NCAA DIV I – Air Force Academy for the 2026-27 season.
The Northeast Generals and the Town of Canton are pleased to welcome Drew and his family to the organization and community.
