The Northeast Generals excited to welcome Rory McGouran to the Northeast Generals as our new Director of Broadcasting!

With over a decade of experience in junior hockey broadcasting and media operations, Rory brings unmatched energy, insight, and a passion for storytelling.

During his time with the Humboldt Broncos his electric play-by-play brought the game to life, making fans feel like they were were on top of the ice. He doubled community sponsorship and marketing efforts, and continually expanded new media and engagement opportunities, turning game nights into can’t-miss events.
He also served as a broadcaster and analyst for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, executing PxP coverage for the league’s biggest events, including the SJHL Finals and Game of the Month, while co-hosting a league-wide weekly talk show. Earlier in his career, Rory was a Producer and On-Air Host for TSN 1290, where he covered live pro sports, and co-hosted the popular MMA talk show “The Weigh-In.”

“I’m honored to join the Generals Family and get to work. It takes an entire community to run a successful hockey team and I can’t wait to introduce myself to the fans, the sponsors, the players and parents, and everyone that is cheering on the Generals,” said McGouran.

Now, he’s bringing that drive to the Generals – with a mission to revitalize community engagement in Canton, create an unforgettable game day atmosphere, provide a riveting broadcast for our fanbase, and turn the Generals into the most talked-about team in town.

“After seven years of being in Humboldt I felt I was ready for a new challenge and I know there’s something special that we can build here in Canton and the surrounding area.”
