Generals finish second in Fraser Cup Final

The Generals NA3HL season came to a close on Sunday, after working their way through the Fraser Cup playoffs, making it to the final game before falling to finish as runner ups in the Fraser Cup Finals to the Helena Bighorns.

The Gens started their round robin with a 4-1 loss to Helena on Thursday, March 21, before bouncing back to make it as the final seed in the Semifinals with a victory over the Louisiana Drillers on Friday, March 22, 3-0. Northeast took on the defending champions in the Granite City Lumberjacks in the semifinals, with a nail biting 2-1 victory on Saturday, March 23, to advance to the Fraser Cup Final.

The Generals found themselves across from the team that defeated them earlier in the week in the Helena Bighorns, who had not lost a regulation game since the month of October. The Gens struck first in the first period against Helena on Sunday, March 24, thanks to forward Matt Nuzzolilo. But a goal in the second and third by the Bighorns made it 2-1, a lead the Generals were unable to recapture. Northeast went down fighting, but were unable to find the net in the final minutes, finishing second on the season.

Goaltender Danny Antal got all four starts in the Fraser Cup playoffs, going 2-2-0 with a 1.75 Goal Against Average and a .944 Save Percentage to match with a shutout in an outstanding performance for the age out.

With that, the Generals season comes to a close. Thank you to everyone for following this season, and thank you and good luck to all of the age outs in their future endeavors. We hope to see you all next season for the 2024-2025 season.
