The Northeast Generals are proud to announce that Spencer Hirsch has secured his collegiate commitment to play hockey at Williams College and join the ‘Ephs’ Men’s Hockey program for the 2026-27 campaign.

Known for his relentless work ethic and leadership both on and off the ice, Hirsch has been a standout performer throughout his time with the Generals. Hirsch started his career with the Generals and North American Hockey League in the 2024-25 season, accumulating 30 points (13g-17a) in his rookie season of 58 games. While already matching his goal total in just 28 games this year, and on pace to well-eclipse his point total, Hirsch’s demand on himself and his teammates allowed him to secure the commitment from one of the more highly regarded schools in the Northeast.

“I am so happy for and proud of Spencer.  He’s just an unbelievable person and player.  Great from day one for us, but he earned ice time with his effort and hockey IQ.  He was immediately important to our PK, where he is absolutely fantastic.  He also kept his play very simple, focusing on pucks in, running the forecheck, and getting to the net.  He’s one of the most reliable players I’ve coached. Williams is getting a great person and player; they are going to be very happy with Spencer in their community, just as we are to have him help us down the stretch in his final year of junior hockey to complete our goals. We wish nothing but the best of success for him,” said Head Coach and GM Bryan Erikson.

The decision to commit to Williams College marks an exciting new chapter for Hirsch, transitioning into collegiate hockey.  He is eager to take on new challenges, both academically and athletically.

“I’m extremely proud and honored to be going to Williams next year. I owe a huge thank you to everyone in the Generals organization, from the coaching staff to my teammates and everyone in between. The support system around me has been so vital and a driving factor in helping me accomplish my goals. Roll Ephs!,” said Hirsch.

Williams College, located in Williamstown, MA, is recognized for its strong liberal arts education and competitive hockey program. Known as a “Little Ivy” school and incredibly difficult to receive acceptance into, Williams offers Hirsch the perfect environment to further his development as a student-athlete, continuing his growth on the ice while pursuing a rigorous academic path.

The Ephs compete in the NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference) of NCAA Division III

The Northeast Generals organization would like to congratulate Spencer and his family on his accomplishment.
