The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that Captain Jake Gutwirth has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Stonehill College in the Northeast Athletic Conference.

Brooklyn native Jake Gutwirth is in his second season with the Northeast Generals. In his 14 games this season, he has scored nine goals and nine assists. He leads his squad with goals (9) and total points (18).

“I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this point in my life. I am truly grateful to have such great people push me to be the best version of myself every day,” stated Gutwirth. “I also want to thank Bryan Erikson and the Northeast Generals organization for allowing me to play here and help me advance to the next level.”

“The entire Northeast Generals organization and I are proud of Jake and his commitment to Stonehill. Jake is a great person and hockey player and has earned this great honor,” said the Generals head coach, Bryan Erikson. “As a Captain, a lot is expected of Jake on a day-to-day basis and he always delivers. He is always ready to set the tone with his speed and grit on the ice while helping to keep the boys focused on the task at hand.  His hard work is second to none and he has improved tremendously in his two years as a General. Selfishly, I am very happy that I will get to watch him just down the street for the next four years. What a great achievement for Jake, his family, and the entire Northeast Generals organization.”

Gutwirth is the fifth player to commit to playing Division I hockey on the Generals.
