The Northeast Generals continue to roll through the first quarter of the season, extending their point streak to double digits with a 4–3 win over the New Hampshire Mountain Kings on Friday night.

Returning to the same rink where their season began, the Generals have completely flipped their early fortunes. After starting the year 0-3-1-0, a 10-game point streak seemed unlikely. Ten games later, they have made it a reality.

This recent surge includes a 9-0-1-0 record, with their only blemish being an overtime loss to the Elmira Aviators. The streak has launched them from last place to second in the East Division, trailing only the Maryland Black Bears, who own a similar 9-0-0-1 mark in their last ten games.

Friday’s matchup was not without its challenges. The Gens were outplayed in the first period, outshot 10–2, and were fortunate to escape down only 1–0. Those two shots were their lowest total in any period this season. But the response was immediate. The team regrouped, made adjustments, and dominated the second period. That type of response separates good teams from great ones and has fueled their recent success.

Newly acquired forward Drew Gibbons, playing in his first game as a General, tied the score early in the second off a slick net-front pass from Luke Drury. Spencer Hirsch then extended his point streak to seven games, netting his eighth goal of the year to give the Gens their first lead. They never trailed again.

In the third, Logan Poulin took over. His shot is as elite as they come, and he buried two more goals, his team-leading 10th and 11th, to help secure the win.

Between the pipes, Will Mizenko continued his strong play. After dropping his first start of the season, he has collected points in seven straight games, improving to 6-1-1-0 after turning aside 30 of 33 shots on Friday.

The Generals’ power play did allow its first shorthanded goal of the season with just 30 seconds left in regulation, but Poulin’s first goal of the night had already evened things out. The unit finished 1-for-4, while the penalty kill surrendered one goal on three opportunities.

With confidence surging and the streak still intact, the Generals are hungry for more. The rematch with New Hampshire drops tonight at 6:00 p.m., and the Gens are ready to make it eleven straight.
